(to Western Hemisphere,Eastern Hemisphere,Footprints by Dish Size) INTELSAT SATELLITE NOTES (return to 511A, 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 701, 702, 704 705, 706A, 707A, 709, 801, 802, 804, 805A)
| Note: For Intelsat 5A series, satellites have 26C/6Ku transponders configurable to 42C/12Ku at 36 MHz units which is how the current website lists it. For Intelsat 6 series, satellites have 38C/10Ku transponders configurable to 64C/24Ku at 36 MHz units which is how the current website lists it. For Intelsat 7 series, the 'A' satellites have 26C/14Ku transponders configurable to 42C/28Ku at 36 MHz units which is how the current website lists it. The 'regular' Intelsat 7 series have 26C/10Ku configurable to 42C/20Ku at 36 MHz units. For Intelsat 8 series, the 'A' sats have one spot beam and 28C/3Ku transponders configurable to 36C/6Ku at 36 MHz units which is how the current website lists it. The 'regular' Intelsat 8 series has two spot beams and 38C/6Ku configurable to 64C/12Ku at 36 MHz units. The prior Intelsat website explained the transponder configs and the difference between the series very well but the new website omits the technical details. If you traced all the links I have on all the Intelsats on my pages you would eventually glean this info, a piece here and a piece there; so for that reason is this note to make your understanding more rapid. This also is true for the New Skies satellites and Columbia 515 as they were purchased from Intelsat. This a classic case of a major corporation 'fucking up' a good, informative website with a slick, glossy website so reminiscent of most of the current French space company websites; but then again, it is their company . . . |
