INTELSAT
805: Delivering Digital Network Solutions to the Americas and
Europe Simultaneous connectivity over the Americas and Europe combined with high C-band e.i.r.p. levels up to 39.7 dBW make INTELSAT 805 an ideal choice for multimedia applications such as Digital Video, VSAT, Internet and Digital Networks. INTELSAT 805 offers simple and cost-effective solutions for any point to multipoint application such as database replication, software distribution, news feeds, stock quotes, live video and audio content, distance education and telemedicine. Contribution and distribution of programming or internet content to both sides of the Atlantic with a single transponder. High power for Satellite News Gathering (SNG), compressed digital video and VSAT. Ability to reach programmers with antennas as small as 1.8 meters. Most cities covered in the 38 - 39 dBW contour. Cost Savings Asymmetric transmission allows internet providers to configure links with different data rates in each direction and pay only for the bandwidth needed. New flexible service options, such as INTELSAT's IBS/VSAT offering, will meet your specific internet needs, saving you money on ground equipment and space segment charges. Fast Implementation Simultaneous uplink and downlink in the Americas and Europe provide instant backbone connectivity to bypass terrestrial congestion with networks that can be up and running in 7 to 60 days, particularly using existing INTELSAT's earth station infrastructures. Pre-engineered data and internet solutions with guaranteed BER and availability levels allow ease of implementation through IDR, IBS and VSAT service offerings. Ease Of Expansion Progressive activation of service allows for ease of expansion and cost savings. You pay only as you grow! Flexibility from 64 kbit/s circuits to 155 Mbit/s pipes. Extended C-Band transponders for additional capacity. High Quality Transmission delivery equivalent to fiber, with availability levels up to 10-12 BER and high quality throughput performance. Regional programming is core to the 805 community. 'INTELSAT 805 was launched on 18 June and we expect it to be operational in July 1998. If you have any questions about this spacecraft, feel free to email us: 805@intelsat.int Or, give us a call at +1 202-944-7500. We would be happy to discuss how this, or any other INTELSAT satellite, can meet your communications needs. |

INTELSAT
805 Begins Service At 304.5°E To Deliver High-Quality Multimedia
Solutions To The Americas And Europe |
| Washington, D.C., 24 July 1998 -- |
| INTELSAT announced today that the INTELSAT 805 communications satellite has begun service in the Atlantic Ocean Region at 304.5°E. The satellite was successfully launched aboard a Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS launch vehicle on 18 June 1998. |
| With a designed orbital maneuver lifetime of over 15 years, the INTELSAT 805 features 28 C-band transponders (linear polarization) with power up to 41.5 dBW, and allows simultaneous high-quality connectivity over the Americas and Europe. The INTELSAT 805 also offers capacity in the extended C-band, allowing users optimum connectivity at lower infrastructure costs with antennas as small as 1.5 meters. The spacecraft also includes three Ku-band high-power transponders with power up to 52 dBW. In addition, the INTELSAT 805 offers new options that guarantee cost-effective service and increased flexibility. |
| Due to the spacecraft's attractive offerings and technical capabilities, several INTELSAT customers have already leased transponders on the INTELSAT 805, primarily for Internet traffic, as well as other voice and data applications. |
| The growing customer community on the spacecraft already includes EMBRATEL (Brazil), Impsat Argentina, Telecomm México (Hipódromo - Aguas Calientes), Firstcom Long Distance Chile, Telefónica del Perú, CANTV (Venezuela), Musicar S.A (Colombia), and Teleglobe. |
| Additional information on the INTELSAT 805 is available on INTELSAT's home page. |
| INTELSAT owns and operates a global communications satellite system. With 1997 revenues of more than US$ 960 million, the INTELSAT system provides voice/data and video services to over 200 countries and territories via satellite. |
