Introduction: These sets of C/Ku-band satellite charts contain specs (launch, design, transponder, bandwidth,
orbit position, inclination), programming, EIRP footprint coverage maps and links to original sources. They are organized on the belief that knowledge promotes business. These sites are arranged in four main sections:
Western Hemisphere, Eastern Hemisphere, Footprints by Dish Size, and Interesting Links (lots of good ones and current!!!). The first two charts are designed to provide quick links to primary information sources of satellite footprints, transponder loading, programming, and specifications for global geostationary satellites. The third section is a collection of coverage footprints calibrated in dish diameter, not EIRP, arranged by continent, and listed by satellite; and contains handy links to sites hosted or contributed by satellite operators with azimuth/elevation calculation charts, latitude/longitude charts, declination angle charts, global magnetic deviation charts, link budget programs, detailed charts of dish size vs. EIRP, polar mount antenna alignment instructions; discussion of prime focus systems, LNB/feedhorns/actuators, cabling/connectors, and ground pole/pad mount installation with a wind loading chart and discussion on disruptions to your satellite signal including terrestrial interference, earth thermal noise, rain fade/free space travel and solar outage with links to outage charts. Also in the third section, a general discussion, but detailed, of orbit types including geostationary, low earth orbit, medium earth orbit, highly elliptical orbit, polar orbit and sun synchronous orbit with example applications for each one and a brief satellite history plus much more. The size section should greatly assist in determining equipment type to choose for your location. And in the fourth section you will find related interesting links, the reason we authored this site (to offer as much easy-to-access data as possible, in this subject matter, to the public domain), and a place for your comments, contributions to updates, and suggestions for links - all of which are appreciated. *CHART* *NOTES: Orbit position & inclination* are current values, see interesting links. *Polarization* (commonly called polarity) is linear unless noted. Check specs for *transponder bandwidth & configuration* capabilities. Check *footprints* for EIRP details &clarifications. On chart: EIRP is to nearest whole number at first contour (not beam center); value is spot beam when multiple beams overlap, hemi value if Intelsat, higher value if dual continent coverage present. Naming of Russian satellites can be confusing; orbital slots for Gorizont series are normally assigned a 'Statsionar' number for C-band, and a 'Loutch' number for Ku-band, payloads; both for the same Gorizont satellite. Gorizont names (numbers) are often referred to by the flight launch number (in this chart the primary number) and sometimes referred to by the Gorizont sequence number (in this chart the number in parenthesis).
